There is lot's of road repairs being done in this park in 3 mile or so stretches so when the traffic in your direction has to stop you are in for a wait while a pilot car brings the opposite direction traffic thru.
So here we are waiting in a queue, at 7000 ft in June in temperatures of 25 degrees with 4ft snow drifts at the side of the road, and some roads are still un-passable up here.
We then went onto Glacier Point, the most spectacular view of Granite rock Canyon and waterfalls and again all I can say is the scale of it and the vastness is something I have never seen before.
We headed on down to Yosemitie Village for lunch and the granite mountain just continued.
We stopped at 7000 ft and put more layers of warm clothing on, then we climbed up from 7000 ft towards 9000 ft and with still a bit more to go, we were now in the snow line, some of the lakes were frozen this one sat underneath the mountain range.
I had a bit of a rush of blood to the head and decided to scramble up the granite rock and take a picture of the gathered bunch, lovely picture but i could not get back down again, lots of laughter and pee taking whilst I scrambled nay slid back down on my arris.
This is a section of what the mountains are made of, up close it is stunning rock, how arty does that sound coming from Kev? but it was.
This is the South entrance and the booth confirms the altitude as being 9945 ft
My Zumo says 3034 mtrs, which in English is about 10000 ft.
